Have you ever been faced with disappointments on the path to your dreams? Yesterday I planned that today was going to be a productive day. It didn’t quite happen that way!
Today came, and at first, it went as planned. I was on a roll feeling all sorts of good about myself, and then a wrench threw itself in the middle of my plans. I couldn’t figure out the reason why the payroll reconciliation was off. Line by line, I combed through the paperwork, and as of the time of this writing, I am still looking for a resolution to the problem.
My failure to accomplish my goals dampened my energetic spirit, and I sat at my desk frustrated. I finally decided to put it aside and attempt to work on something else, but my energy and enthusiasm were gone. It was time to call it a day.
Have you ever had a day like that? What about a week or month like that? Maybe your year is going to hell in a handbasket. It would be wonderful if everything we planned were executed perfectly without a single glitch, but often that’s not how life unravels itself. The road to achieving goals will always have hurdles called disappointment.

Disappointments Are Bound to Happen
Disappointments happen. Things don’t always go as planned. It’s just inevitable. I’ve learned that disappointments are mere character builders. Yes, character builders. It’s life’s way of seeing if you are willing to persevere in the face of challenges. How you handle the disappointment will largely dictate how and if you’ll succeed.
Dreams require challenges, and challenges form the building blocks to success. The key to succeeding is getting back in the saddle every time you fall off. That is the only way you will become a pro-rider.
Moving Forward
So shake off that fall. Learn the lessons from that failed venture and move forward. Remember, delayed never means denied and disappointments on the path to your dreams does not mean that the dream will not come to life.
